Adverts have been creeping into the Start menu recently (albeit in the form of what Microsoft calls ‘badging’, veiled as helping users), and we’ve also been hearing about the possibility of peppering ads into the Bing AI chatbot – and now this, with the Weather app.Ĭan we just stop this, Microsoft? Particularly when it comes to Windows 11 and Windows 10, because these – and by extension, the core apps within them – are products people have paid money to use. Sadly, it seems that this is part of an ongoing theme with Windows 11. Not a bunch of doubtless largely irrelevant news stories and worse still an ad staring us in the face in a central part of the interface. If we’re looking at the Weather app, we just want the weather, Microsoft, and as accurate a forecast as possible. It helps to make forecasts mainly for markets but can also be used for weather or any quantifiable data. Its purpose is to provide a complete set of tools to perform technical analysis on charts and data.

At least the news is solely weather-related topics, so it makes sense in context to a point, but it’s very much likely to be stories you don’t want to hear about. QChartist is a free and open source technical analysis charting software. I'm pretty well versed on MS Windows, been using their crap since MSDos, wrote software for DOS and early Windows and can usually figure things out. Might try a suggestion if anyone has one although don't want to make it worse. I like a separate window indicator for every opened program (sort of like Windows) and the pinned launchers on the left but I now have an icon near the left of every open program along with the ones for each opened window and not a big deal just a bit cluttered. played around with it for hours comparing the settings (in windows manager and grouped windows manager) to 2 other systems I have with same setup. One weird thing I can't get the way I want though in the panel.

It also seems to have fixed my update icon which was not showing up in the panel. Luckily I have 2 other systems with almost identical setup.
Since I have satellite Internet it was very slow downloading anything, at times showing 11 kB/second but everything I use daily is working now although will have a lot more to install. Thanks, no not sure where I got it from but I took the hard but certain route. hope this doesn't happen very often though
I hate when things don't work right, I think I may spend the day reinstalling everything. Thanks again for the info much appreciated, the support here is what keeps me Minting.

The lack of notifications about updates bothers me a little and almost made me go to a clean install but I really dread that thought. I looked though files (not real familiar with Linux file structure but very good with Windows) and saw a bunch but most of them contained in a timeshift backup I made before upgrading to 19.3 I had found what I think was a downloaded "app image" and I deleted that earlier but still got one notification after that, will see what happens now. Thanks for the suggestion, sorry to interrupt your HolidayĮ: Unable to locate package my-weather-indicator Microsoft’s examples of the new look show the weather icon with and without text, but it’s unclear whether that is dependent on the icon’s position and available space.
